How to Post on Instagram Via Desktop (Video Included)

No, no, this one is without using an app. Yes, you read it right! According to TechCrunch, the company told them that,

“Instagram.com (accessed from mobile) is a web experience optimized for mobile phones. It’s designed to help people have a fuller experience on Instagram no matter what device or network they are on.”

Now that’s a really good news for many people! Posting to your Instagram account from a mobile has its limitations, from slow connection, not enough memory to expensive mobile data or if you’re capturing images using a camera and then deciding to edit it on a desktop, and then, uploading it, can be a real drag.

Instagram has been upping its game lately with new features popping up. Such as new features for Stories, now you can post older contents to it – this making it so much easier for social media managers to prepare their content posting in advance and time to polish its visuals, a new tool called Superzoom that you can apply to it, Stories is now available at desktop, and stop motion camera for Stories. If you haven’t notice, more businesses are using Stories to promote their business (catalogs, a teaser video ad etc.), Stories’ users have grown up to 200 million daily (1) making it bigger than Snapchat.

Without further delay, let’s jump into the steps on how to post content to Instagram using your desktop.

Via Chrome:

1. Go to instagram.com

2. Right click and choose ‘Inspect.’

3. This is the first display, after that click the tablet/mobile icon at lower left screen.

4. Once the mobile display is activated, login to account.

5. You can click on the camera icon top left to upload a picture or click on (plus) button below. To expand the view (larger display) click the x button at lower right.

6. Now you have larger display and you can still upload images, also navigate using the other buttons as usual.

7. To upload video/image for Stories, activate again the mobile/tablet display by right-clicking the screen, choose ‘Inspect’, click the tablet/mobile icon at lower left.

Via Safari:

It’s quote similar, once in Safari:

  1. Choose Preference
  2. Click Advanced
  3. At the very bottom, check the box titled ‘Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar.’
  4. Open a private browsing window
  5. Click Develop, the User Agent, opt for Safari – iOS 10 – iPhone
  6. Go to instagram.com
  7. Login to account as normal
  8. Upload your image from the desktop by clicking the camera icon at the bottom
